This week we’re talking wine and cheese…. but not together! Rebecca Turner shares how to have your wine or beer while pursuing a healthier lifestyle. We look at the pitfalls of those “protein” sources, that actually end up being fats! And Ryno shares his favorite part of the week (which incorporates his love… of soccer.)
Ryno hopped on the “Gator”/Golf Cart after the last day of Boot Camp for Week 4 and wanted to take it for a spin, but the keys weren’t in it(and he would’ve probably gotten in trouble). After one month of Operation Healthy State, Ryno is already seeing some real results!
It’s the end of week four of Operation Healthy State – the boot camp – and I’m reminded of some sage advice about weight loss, nutrition and changing your life: Rome wasn’t built in a day…
Coach Kilgore worked out Ryno and Dawn on the football field with some exercises involving straps and “plates”(45 pound weights), and it turned into a race(of sorts). Ryno was proud of how much he sweated today, and he grossed out Dawn with his “Sweat V”.
One of the biggest obstacles for me when working out – was boredom. I would get into this routine of the same old, same old – and it got stale real quick. And when I’m bored, I’m done. I don’t want to do it anymore, so I find excuses not to. Coach Kilgore continues to … Continue reading “OHS Day 15: Variety is the spice of life (Dawn)”
There’s a new addition to the SuperTalk and Head to Head family. Meet Frances Devall Cross. She came into the world today at 1:30 p.m. Mom Jane is doing well and the entire family is all smiles at their new addition. Congratulations Richard & Jane!
Ryno made an observation to Coach Kilgore as the workout was winding down, that he didn’t really enjoy the workouts, but he noticed he’s got more energy AFTER the workout! If you struggle with staying motivated to workout, just remember, when you push yourself, you make yourself just that little bit better!
It’s another edition of “Tuesdays with Coach Kilgore” and he shares advice about how to measure your success when it comes to workouts. You should compete with only – yourself. (That makes it a little tough to gauge the Battle of the Sexes, no? He had advice about that too!)
House Speaker Philip Gunn appeared on The Gallo Show this morning, and talked about the remarks made by Rep. Karl Oliver. Gunn said many people have asked him to fire Rep. Oliver, but he doesn’t have the authority to do so. If you want him fired – you have the power. Week 4 of the Operation Healthy State Boot Camp began in the rain, and Coach Kilgore ratcheted up the intensity, which pushed Dawn and Ryno to their limits. Ryno had to compete with Mother Nature just to get to the gym, but bad weather is no excuse for skipping a workout.
First-term state representative Karl Oliver has sparked a firestorm over his comments on Louisiana leadership after four Confederate monuments were taken down in the city of New Orleans. Rep. Oliver says in his post : “The destruction of these monuments, erected in the loving memory of our family and fellow Southern Americans, is both heinous … Continue reading “Rep Oliver: Louisiana leadership “should be lynched” after monument removals”
Ever have one of those moments where you don’t want to get out of bed, or get dressed for the gym? A minute ago, it seemed like a great idea – but you let too much time pass before you did anything. The 5-second rule aims to circumvent your excuse-maker, also known as your brain. … Continue reading “OHS Day 13: The 5-second rule (Dawn)”
