Child shot in Holmes county, accused appears in court

Sheriff Willie March of Holmes County confirmed that the man accused of shooting a 9-year-old appeared in court on Monday. 

Craig Thomas is facing aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling charges. U.S. Marshals arrested Thomas on Friday in the Jackson area.

He is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriends son around 1:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 30. The child suffered gunshot wounds to the shoulder, arm, and hand.

Thomas was denied bond and is being held in Holmes County.

Sheriff March said the child is now home and recovering.
