Convicted Sex Offender Doesn’t Learn Lesson, Arrested in Yazoo City

YAZOO CITY, Miss.- Authorities say a registered sex offender is accused of molesting a 7-year-old girl. Yazoo City Police Department said 37-year-old Jerry Poarch is being charged with molestation and enticing a child.

Investigator Tommy Erving told WAPT that Poarch allegedly stopped at the end of a driveway on Saturday where the girl was playing and he tried to get her into his truck. When the girl refused, Poarch talked the girl into following him to a dead end street near a church.

Erving went on to add that Poarch is accused of unzipping his pants and then pulling down the girl’s pants and touching her. The girl’s mother said that investigators told her that someone saw Poarch, which is why he jumped in his truck and drove off.

Investigators also said that the child’s description of the truck helped them track Poarch down. He was arrested Monday, being held at the Yazoo County Jail.

Poarch was convicted back in 2008 in Madison County, which is what landed him on the Mississippi Sex Offender Registry in the first place.
