Daily Digital: Apologies Alday Tuesday, Holland Rants on Cosmetology, Afroman Decks Fan

Colorful language and actions… that’s the theme for today’s Daily Digital.

I’m Courtney Carter, and today is February 18th.

Racist comments to the local paper.. not a good idea, especially when you’re a state lawmaker. State Representative Gene Alday got plenty of heat both from the public and other legislators for comments he made to the Clarion Ledger. It didn’t set well with Governor Phil Bryant either… saying there’s no room for any kind of comment like that today in Mississippi. Alday released a public apology for the comments on the House floor Tuesday.

Also getting some words in on the house floor yesterday, Representative Steve Holland. Holland called out members of the state cosmetology board, calling the executive director icompetent and saying there’s not enough Governor appointed people on the board. Holland suggested they clean house, and the vote was to cut the funding to nothing, or as Holland calls it, a fat goose egg.

And for Fat Tuesday, a Biloxi woman may have gotten a fat lip. A fan got a little into Afroman’s show at Kress Night club Tuesday. She decided to join Afroman on stage. Instead of letting security handle it, Afroman decks her. She was well enough to make a citizen’s arrest and Afroman’s set was shut down so he could be sent to the pen, but bailed out.

Hear the apologies, rants, and see Afroman pull a swing on his fan at newsms.fm.

Now Colorful news aside, investigators are working to paint a picture of the final night of Jessica Chambers’s life. There’s some gaps in the timeline and police need your help at newsms.fm.

For the Daily Digital, I’m Courtney Carter.
