Despite Black Bears’ Popularity Right Now, Unwanted One Near School

WAYNE COUNTY, Miss. — A black bear showed up near an elementary school in Wayne County earlier Monday.  A spokesperson for the school district said Beat Four School was immediately put on lock down as a precaution and there was never any threat to students.

The bear was spotted in some woods behind the school’s campus by a parent before classes started.  The Wayne County Sheriff’s department, Emergency Management and Wildlife workers were notified and were searching for the bear.
