Dizzying Drive to Jail

PASCAGOULA, Miss. — A Pascagoula man has been sentenced to jail time for carjacking a woman and abandoning her young daughter on the side of a Jackson County road.

Bradley Scott Hilsabeck, 27, admitted to the crime in court Tuesday and told the judge he was off his mental health medication at the time.  Prosecutors said when Hilsabeck carjacked the woman just before Christmas 2012, she managed to grab her infant son, but could not unbuckle her 3-year-old daughter from her car seat before Hilsabeck took off.  After realizing the toddler was still in the car, Hilsabeck left her on the side of the road.  Deputies later found her and tracked him down.

He was sentenced to 15 years for carjacking and another 30 with 15 suspended for kidnapping. The sentences will run concurrent with each other.
