Fall Fashion: Hair and Makeup

MADISON, Miss.- Hair styles change as the seasons do. With fall upon us, and winter just around the corner, what direction will your look go?

While the summer brought in long and light colored locks, hair and makeup artist Tracy Branch said that fall is calling for a cut.

“What’s big for women is this big chop. They want a nice blunt looking bob. The long bob is really in with long choppy layers,” she said.

The popular hair colors change with the season just like leaves do.

Branch said during those warmer days most women were asking for a balayage. A style that highlights the hair to gradually get lighter while still looking more natural. However, now the “yummy colors” are in.

“People are coming in to transition to what I like to call the ‘yummy colors’ because we call them champagne blonde, Nutella brown, and caramel highlights,” said Branch

For the men, that old school barbering technique is still in. The hard part with a sweep-over or Pompadour that makes every man look dapper and sophisticated.

But Branch said there is one thing that’s so in, even the women are swooning.

“Beards, are the name of the game. Women are loving the bead. We have beard crushes all year long,” she said.

To fix up your face, the Gothic look is very in. But don’t go too “teen goth” and buy some black lipstick. Branch said the deep plums, berries, and purples are in especially with a matte finish.
