Fraternity’s Flamingo Fiasco Felony List Continues to Grow

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – A half dozen more people have been indicted for the death of a Chilean Flamingo stolen from the Hattiesburg Zoo this past October.

Tyler Branch, Adonnis Harris, Alec Newton, Bobby Scott, Cole Mitchell and Richard Coletta were booked into the Forrest County jail Monday on grand larceny and conspiracy charges.

Hattiesburg police had said the students were part of a school fraternity scavenger hunt, but one student, Devin Nottis, decided to take the flamingo instead of just taking a picture of the animal.  Nottis was earlier indicted on grand larceny and animal cruelty charges for killing  the exotic bird, which was hurt so badly it had to be put to death.  Zoo workers said the it’s mate was injured in the same attack and died a day later.
