FULL PRESS CONFERENCE AUDIO: Vicksburg’s Hometown Hero: Malcolm Butler Gets Parade, Key to the City

VICKSBURG, Miss– Patriots cornerback and Vicksburg native Malcolm Butler got the hero’s welcome back to his hometown Saturday.

Butler made an interception in the last twenty seconds of the Super Bowl to secure the win for the Patriots against the Seahawks.

Thousands of people lined the streets of downtown Vicksburg for the Malcolm Butler parade. Though many were from Vicksburg, there were several that drove in for the ceremonies.

“We drove in from Lafayette, Louisiana,” said one fan, “we’ve been here since seven this morning.” The parade didn’t start until 2:30pm.

After the parade was over, the ceremony moved to the Vicksburg Convention Center, where Butler was presented the key to the city.

“If  you want to succeed,” said Butler after being presented the key,”all you have to do is believe, and stick with what you do.”

Immediately following the key ceremony, Butler opened up to the press about that winning interception, the opportunity he almost missed, and what it was like to come back home:
