Kevin Charles Fine Upholstery is expanding in New Albany by increasing production of the company’s exclusive line of furniture. The project is a $2.54 million corporate investment and will create 30 jobs.

“Kevin Charles Fine Upholstery’s decision to invest in its New Albany operations means the company has found a community and a dedicated workforce that have contributed to its success for nearly two decades and will continue to do so well into the future. North Mississippi has a talented pipeline of hard workers ready to help manufacturers, such as Kevin Charles Fine Upholstery, achieve long-term growth in our state,” Governor Phil Bryant said.

Kevin Charles Fine Upholstery produces high-quality furniture that is hand-assembled at its 63,000-square-foot facility in New Albany. The company produces the Kevin Charles brand of furniture for City Furniture, a South Florida-based retailer founded by Kevin & Keith Koenig, allowing City Furniture the flexibility to respond quickly to its customers’ needs. The expansion will allow the company to meet an increase in consumer demand.

“Kevin Charles Fine Upholstery and our partners at City Furniture are excited to be announcing our growth. This decision was made possible due to the dedication and craftsmanship of our associates; without them this opportunity would not be coming to fruition,” said Kevin Charles Fine Upholstery President and Chairman-elect of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association Rusty Berryhill. “We also appreciate being located in Mississippi with state and local leaders that value the importance of manufacturing and manufacturing jobs. I want to personally thank Three Rivers Planning & Development, the Mississippi Development Authority and the Union County & city of New Albany leaders.”

The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance for building improvements.

“Since Kevin Charles Fine Upholstery opened for business in New Albany, Mississippians in Union County and the surrounding area have produced top-quality furniture for the South Florida market, enabling City Furniture to become an industry leader recognized for its contemporary, stylish furniture,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “We salute the Kevin Charles Fine Upholstery team for bringing dozens of new career opportunities to New Albany, as well as the teams at Three Rivers Planning and Development District, Union County, and the city of New Albany, which, together with MDA, was instrumental in bringing this expansion to fruition.”

Kevin Charles Fine Upholstery currently employs 72 workers in New Albany.
