Giving Back for the Holidays; Volunteering Opportunities at Stewpot and Habitat for Humanity

JACKSON, Miss.- Tis the season of joy, love and giving back to the community. If you want to give back this holiday season here’s two places in Mississippi that could use your help.

Stewpot- Stewpot in Jackson needs volunteers for New Year’s Eve and the day after Thanksgiving. They have a food pantry with volunteer opportunities, a kitchen to feed the homeless, and they need help sending out Christmas cards to donors. All their services at www.stewpot.org

Habitat for Humanity- Habitat for Humanity needs people from Dec. 1-4 and 15-19 to help with building homes. They are currently working on a house that will need some finishing work done and landscaping. Habitat for Humanity brings housing opportunities to low and moderate income families who have had barriers to home ownership. Houses are purchased and there is a mortgage, but the families receiving these homes must participate in building the house and partake in a financial education program that helps them budget, learn how to save money, reduce debt and learn how to handle all of their household costs. For more information and to volunteer visit: http://hfhmgc.com/
