Heat advisories in effect across Mississippi – 7-17-18

In north Mississippi, there is a heat advisory in effect along the Mississippi River from 10 a.m. this morning to 8 p.m. this evening. During the day, expect partly sunny skies with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the lower 90s and heat index readings will be anywhere from 102 to 107. At night, cloudy in the evening with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows will drop down into the mid-70s.

In central Mississippi, a heat advisory is in effect along the Mississippi River north of Vicksburg from 11 a.m. this morning to 7 p.m. tonight. Partly sunny skies are expected today with some patchy fog in the morning and a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will climb into the lower 90s and heat index readings will range from 104 to 109. In the evening, mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms during the night. Lows will drop down into the lower to mid-70s.

In south Mississippi, a chance of showers and thunderstorms this morning and afternoon. Some heavy rainfall is possible today with highs in the upper 80s and the highest heat index readings will be around 101. Tonight, mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows will dip down into the mid-70s.
