JACKSON, Miss. — Ice has been detected on roadways and bridges in numerous counties in Central and Southern Mississippi.
I-20 is iced over in Scott, Rankin, Hinds and Newton Counties. I-20 at the Downtown Brandon exit in Rankin County is closed. The bridge to Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Copiah County is closed. The Highway 84/61 Flyover Bridge in Adams County has been closed, and traffic is being detoured through the Sgt. Prentiss Drive/ Devereaux Drive intersection. Southbound Highway 49 is close in Simpson County. You are advised to take exit 149 at Braxton and reenter Highway 49 S/B at Mendenhall. Highway 61 at Latourneau Road in Warren County has been reopened.
You are encouraged to stay off roadways in these areas and limit travel only in case of emergency.
