More Ice, Sleet, Snow: Winter Is Still Very Much Here

YAZOO CITY, Miss.–Ice, possibly up to one half inch, could accumulate on trees, bridges and overpasses overnight Monday, into Tuesday morning. It seems like something you’ve heard several times already, but here it is again.

A line from Rayville, La. to Yazoo City, to Columbus has a winter weather warning for tonight.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Dan Byrd says you need to be careful on the roads and look out areas north and south of that line.

“Areas just to the north in the Delta, and to the south just north of the Jackson metro area we could see lighter accumulations of ice.”

He said there could also be snow and sleet in those areas.

Ice could cause some power outages and you should be prepared to either be late for work, or be on the lookout for cancellations.

Byrd said that areas n the De;ta might not get above freezing Tuesday, leaving any ice or snow on the ground longer. But, areas where the warning is could see much of it melt Tuesday, with a high at 37.
