JACKSON, Miss. — Jackson State University announced on Wednesday that head football coach Rick Comegy has been let go by the school.
He and his entire staff will not be returning for the 2014 season and athletic director Vivian L. Fuller said in a press release the search for a new coach will begin immediately.
“We are grateful to Coach Comegy and his staff for their service to Jackson State,” Fuller said. “We appreciate the work he has done with JSU athletics and we wish him well.”
JSU football was 8-4 during the 2013 season while going 8-1 in the SWAC.
Comegy was 55-35 in eight seasons at JSU.
