Job Opportunities for Hundreds as a Result of Job Fair in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss.- Hundreds of people attended the job fair at the Trade Mart Center in Jackson Wednesday with hopes of finding work.

The event was held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m and open to the general public. All military veterans were allowed in the doors at 9:00 a.m Wednesday, March 19.

The Director for the Governor’s Job Network Adam Todd said, “We have 105 businesses here and nearly 700 to 800 job seekers have attended. There’s a lot of activity happening at the job fair today.”

One of the booths at the job fair represented a truck driving training course to get your CDL license. The man said, “If a person has a CDL license and isn’t working it’s because they don’t want to. We are always in need of drivers and if you have a clean background check and driving record, you’re going to have a job.” He said that he tells many people that approach him with interest in pursuing a career in this that, “They’ll never have to come to another job fair again if they have their CDL license because they’ll always be employed.”

There were employers representing multiple different companies across the state of Mississippi. Law enforcement booths, Media representatives, restaurant chains, department stores, training courses and University representatives are just a few of the types of businesses that were represented at Wednesday’s job fair.

Todd said, “We have many job opportunities here and many people coming in to fill those job positions so a lot of people are going to go to work as a result of today’s event.”
