JPD investigating city’s 56th murder of 2017

The Jackson Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Greenhill Place around 1 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Investigators have identified the victim as 26-year-old, Demond C. Reed. It appears that Reed was shot in the neck and chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear how long the body had been there before the officer arrived. The officer was on routine patrol when the body was found in the parking lot of an abandoned apartment building near a parked car.

No suspect information has been released at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.

This is the 56th murder in the city of Jackson in 2017.
