JSU student suffers gunshot wound in dorm

According to a post on the Jackson State University Facebook page, a student suffered a gunshot wound inside of a dorm room on campus earlier today. The post goes on to say that there is no active threat.

“A student involved shooting incident has taken place in Dixon Hall at Jackson State University. The student sustained a non-life-threatening injury and has been transported to the hospital. There is not an active threat on campus.

The safety of our students, faculty, and staff are our top priority, and we have put measures in place to ensure their safety. The incident is currently under investigation. For further updates, continue to monitor the university’s social media.”

Little information was given, and it is currently unclear how the victim was shot. The student’s name has not been provided and the investigation is ongoing.
