License Fee Hike for Hunters Passes Senate

JACKSON, MISS– If this bill becomes law, you’ll need to reach a little deeper into your wallet to renew your hunting or fishing license.

But this bill, H.B. 1151 hasn’t sailed smoothly through the legislative session–it has been amended about five times.

If this bill is signed into law, will raise the resident Sportsman License from $32 to $45, the All Game Hunting and Freshwater Fishing License from $17 to $25 and the Small Game Hunting and Freshwater Fishing License from $8 to $10.

The extra funds generated from this raise would go to giving raises and increasing the workforce for the Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.

An amendment to this bill states that non-residents’ licensing fees would also have to be increased, but an amount for that increase wasn’t specified.
