Major Flooding in North Mississippi

JACKSON, MISS– The National Weather Service confirms that homes are being evacuated and roads are impassable because of major flooding across North Mississippi.

Desoto, Tunica, Coahoma, and Panola counties are seeing the worst of it, with a few water rescues already completed after being have driven into those waters, not realizing how deep they are.

Rivers, streams, and lakes are also flooding in that area.

The National Weather Service predicts that up to 12 inches of rain could fall in the next day and a half or so in Coahoma county, 9 inches in surrounding areas.

If you are asked to evacuate, please follow the official’s advice. Do not attempt to drive on streets that are flooding over, as you don’t know how severe the flooding may be.

News Mississippi will continue to cover the flooding as it develops.
