Man Gets Time in Jail for “Disgusting Crime,”: Mississippi’s Attorney General

LAUREL, Miss. A Laurel man sentenced to 20 years in prison, but only having to serve six of them for possessing child pornography.

Charles English, 59, pleaded guilty Friday.  According to special agents with the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit, English was downloading child pornography from the internet onto his laptop and thumb drive.  “We appreciate Judge (Billy Joe) Landrum giving this defendant time to serve for this disgusting crime,” said Attorney General Jim Hood following Friday’s sentencing.  English was also ordered to pay $1,000 for having a public defender and another $1000 to the Mississippi Crime Victims Fund.  He must also register as a sex offender when he is released from prison.
