Man Sentenced to 30 Years for More than 20,000 Images of Child Pornography

GULFPORT, Miss.- Sentenced to 30 years behind bars for producing child pornography and lots of it.

James Allen Myers, 66, had more than 20,000 pornographic pictures and videos of children that he took with him to Carriere from North Port, Florida.

The Sun Herald reported Myers was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Louis Guirola Jr. in Gulfport to 30 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. He is also ordered post-release supervision for life.

Police said Myers had lived in North Port, Florida, where at least three of the children he photographed and videotaped lived.

A federal jury convicted him after a three-day trial Aug. 6 on one count of transportation of child pornography and six counts of possession of child pornography.

Court documents show Homeland Security Investigations was trying to identify a person in Florida who had posted 253 sexually-explicit pictures of children in August 2013 on a child erotica website. HSI asked the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office to seize Myers computer after it was determined he had moved to Kings Point in Carriere.

The Sun Herald said, an FBI agent testified Myers had pornographic pictures and videos of several children, including a toddler he posed in sexually-explicit positions while he lived with the girl’s family in the Sarasota area in 2008.

He could be heard coaching the child on some of the videos, according to testimony, and also was known to babysit children and had literature about the rape and incest of small children.

Myers will have to register as a sex offender once released.
