The Masked Robbery of an Elderly Woman: State Corrections Officer Charged

CLINTON, Miss.–The robbery earlier this week of an elderly Clinton woman in her own front yard startled the neighborhood and had police on high alert. Thursday they made an arrest and one of two people charged was Correctional Officer Kelsey McInnis, of Brandon.

McInnis, 22, works as an officer at the Central Miss. Correctional Facility in Rankin County. She and Terrell Brown, 19, are both charged with armed robbery. McInnis turned herself in.

Clinton Police say the two followed the woman home Tuesday afternoon and had masks on when they took her iPad, cash and cards as she got out of her car.

Police were able to track them down using the credit card trail and a tip when they tried to hock the iPad.

McInnis was already out on bond on another similar charge from Covington County, so she didn’t get bond, said Clinton Police.
