The runoff election for Mississippi House District 102 was decided on Tuesday with Missy Warren McGee coming out on top over her opponent Kathryn Rehner.

McGee’s victory ensures that the Republican Super Majority will remain intact.

Rehner was gracious in defeat as she congratulated McGee.

“As a constituent, I am eager to work with you to help enhance quality of life for all residents in our district,” said Rehner in a post to her Facebook page.

The vote total showed that McGee won by a margin of 2,107 votes to Rehner’s 1,000.

The previous seat holder was Toby Barker who was recently elected Mayor of Hattiesburg. McGee will finish out Barker’s term which will run through 2019.
