MDOT hosts safety fair

JACKSON, Miss.- The Eighth Annual Safety Fair will be held Saturday April 9th, hosted by the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT).

MDOT will host the free event at the Mississippi Trade Mart in Jackson Mississippi. Visitors will be exposed to educational activities in an attempt to increase awareness for child passenger safety, dangers of distracted driving, and safety for all motorists and pedestrians.

Thee will be a virtual distracted driving simulator, a safety rollover demo called “Rover”, the impaired driving simulator, and don’t forget the low-speed head-on collision simulator called “Convincer.”

Safe Kids MS will also be there with certified car seat technicians to inspect your child’s safety seat for free.

If you are a bicycler there are attractions for you too. The Bike Rodeo will offer safety tips to kids and bike riders. Not to mention, all participants will receive a free helmet (while supplies last) and enter to win a brand new bike.

There will be food and drinks available. A rock climbing wall, face painting, and a space jump will be around for kids of all ages. Don’t forget the Bike Smoothie Maker where visitors can power a blender by riding a bike.
