Mississippi receives federal grant money for community development

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Mississippi nonprofit Hope Enterprise Corp. has received the NeighborWorks America Grant to support community development activities. 

The grant went to the Jackson-based organization to provide support for the development of affordable housing, revitalize neighborhoods, and promote job creating in Mississippi.

“Hope Enterprise is among several nonprofit organizations in Mississippi that use federal grants to leverage private, charitable and other nonfederal funding to improve urban and rural communities,” Sen. Thad Cochran said. “I am pleased that this Mississippi organization will benefit from the completion of the FY2017 appropriations process.”

The grant is provided through the FY2017 Consolidated Appropriations Act, that began on May 5. Last year, NeighborWorks investeed $925,000 in Mississippi alone.
