Mississippi Weekend: History, Archaeology, and Party

JACKSON, Miss– Here’s what you can do all around the state this weekend.

In Southaven it’s the 53rd Annual Numismatic Coin Show. There will be booths displaying coins dating back to pre-Civil War days. You’ll be able trade, sell, and buy coins for your collections. There will also be food vendors and events for the kids. That’s all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Landers Center. The Coin Show website has more details.

Then in Jackson it’s the Archaeology Expo at the Capitol Green. Kids will have a chance to see and make Indian artifacts, listen to real archaeologists and go on a scavenger hunt. They’ll also learn about remote sensing and go through a mini-museum. That’s all day Saturday at no cost to you and the kids.

Wrap the day up at Ocean Springs for the 6th Annual Rotary Club 5-k Night Run. It’s not just a charity run, it’s a party; dj, food, adult beverages, events for the kids, contests, and giveaways. That’s in Ocean Springs Saturday night kicking off at 7pm at the Mary C. O’Keefe Center.
