MSU Practice Report: Mississippi State Looking Ahead to Arkansas, Not Back to Alabama

After holding Alabama to 30 points and 250 yards under their season averages, you could understand if Mississippi State took a moment to rest on its laurels and take pride in that achievement, even though it came in a 24-0 loss to the Crimson Tide. Bulldog defensive coordinator Bob Shoop is having none of that though, as he and his group have their focus on Arkansas, a team Shoop said is capable of big plays.

We spoke to senior defensive end and captain Gerri Green, who echoed his coach’s comments, that the Bulldogs are locked in on the Razorbacks. Green also spoke about his career in Starkville, as Saturday will mark his final game in Davis Wade Stadium.

Junior defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons spoke about the importance of he and the other Bulldog underclassmen delivering for their senior teammates. Simmons said that every team in the SEC is dangerous, and the Razorbacks definitely have his attention.

Mississippi State is on pace to finish once again among the nation’s leaders in all defensive catergories, but will need solid games against Arkansas and Ole Miss to keep that status. We’ll have a lot more about this on SportsTalk Mississippi, as the whole team will be in studio for the full show.
