An assistant football coach at Murrah High School in Jackson is facing drug charges, according to law enforcement.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office announced in a Tuesday press release that Robert Tyreke Landers, 34, was arrested Monday after a joint investigation by RCSO, the Madison Police Department, and the U.S. Postal Service.
According to the release, approximately 13 pounds of “suspected high-grade marijuana” and approximately seven pounds of a “gray paste-like substance” that field tested positive for methamphetamine were found inside Landers’ home on Mt. Helm Road in Brandon. The suspected drugs have been submitted to the state crime lab for further testing.

Landers, who serves as the defensive coordinator at Murrah, was charged with two counts of conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance. According to the school’s website, he is also a health teacher.
“We will continue to work with and cooperate with all our law enforcement partners to reduce the availability of drugs, not only in Rankin County but the metro area,” Sheriff Bryan Bailey said. “Our continued goal is to have a safe, secure community in which we can all live, raise our families, and retire.”
Landers is being held without bond until his initial court hearing.
