Neighbor Arrested in Shallow Graves Case

BAILEY, Miss.–Last Thursday deputies from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department found two shallow graves on a piece of property in the Bailey community.

By Friday evening the next door neighbor and owner of both properties, Carl Wesley Bell, was in custody and has since been charged with several felonies according to WLBT.

The charges include possession of a firearm by a felon along with two counts of accessory after the fact to murder.

Deputies showed up to the property where the two graves were eventually found to look for Algene Grant, a registered sex offender that hadn’t checked-in with authorities in a while.

Sheriff Billy Sollie tells WLBT that inside Grant’s mobile home something tipped them off that there had been a violent act but wouldn’t go into specifics.

After they broadened their search, the graves were found and Bell was rounded up shortly after the discovery.
