New storm shelters for Chickasaw County

HOUSTON, Miss.- Chickasaw County has been approved for nine community storm shelters.

The approval comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. They have approved the project for $50,000.

The shelters will be installed at local fire departments that do not already have a storm shelter. Each new shelter will be able to hold up to 40 people and cost roughly $7,000 each.

FEMA will reimburse 75 percent of the costs after the shelters are built, reports WCBI.
