New Technology to Help Secure the Mississippi River

PORT TOWNSEND, WA– The United States’ Army Corps of Engineers has just locked in a $300,000 contract with Intellicheck Mobilisa, Inc. to help secure the Mississippi River Valley division.

The division includes six U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facilities. Securing these facilities is vital, says William Roof, CEO of Intellicheck.

“It scans the strips and bar codes on drivers’ licenses, military id’s, and other identification,” Roof says, “that way it is known if that person is a sex offender, spousal abuser, wanted by a state or the federal government, or barred from a base for an infarction.”

Roof says protecting the facilities is about more than security.

“The Mississippi River is key for the economy,” says Roof, “this is a matter of national security.”
