Ole Miss Campus Boil Water Notice Still In Effect

JACKSON, Miss.–The entire campus at Ole Miss has been under a boil water notice since last Friday.

The university sent out a RebAlert notifying anyone that us using water on-campus to “boil water vigorously for one minute before using.”

Evidently the presence of the bacteria total coliform is the reason behind the alert according to WMC-TV.  The city of Oxford is not affected by the notice luckily.

The consequences are now that over 20,000 who use the water system are having to drink bottled water, use it to brush their teeth, and wash dishes. The alert stated that showering is fine as long as no water is swallowed.

At the Ole Miss homecoming game against Idaho on Saturday no fountain drinks were available at the game due to the water system.

So far, no timeline for a fix has been announced by the school.
