Police have identified Karon Deshawn McVay as the suspect in the quadruple shooting that lead to the death of three women and a 5 year-old boy in Toomsuba.
Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said McVay was in a relationship with one of the women.
“He was in a domestic relationship with Tameka Pickett, the mother of Owen Pickett,” said Calhoun.
Calhoun added that McVay was not Owen’s father, and that the other child found safe in the home belonged to one of the sisters.
“This can be categorized as a domestic violence issue,” said Calhoun. “Earlier in the day, an argument broke out… and then he shot the four victims.”
McVay has been charged with three counts of first degree murder, one charge of capital murder, and one charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.

UPDATE: An arrest has been made in Lauderdale County, according to Ward Calhoun, Chief Deputy with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department.
Law enforcement officers in Toomsuba, in Lauderdale County, discovered the bodies of three adults and one child in a home, all shot dead, after a call from a concerned neighbor Tuesday morning.
Neighbors told the police that they had not seen activity from the house since Monday.
“When they got there, the front door, the glass was shattered, and there was a hole in the aluminum frame that looked like a bullet hole,” said Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobbler.
He described the grim scene in the home.
“There was one black female, laying by the door, killed from a gunshot wound,” said Cobbler. “There were three more black females, all (killed) from a gunshot wound, and one..child, also killed from a gunshot wound.”
Cobbler said he has not yet been able to access the deceased, and that the bodies will be taken to the state crime lab for autopsy.
