Owner of a Tupelo elderly care home sentenced

TUPELO, Miss.- Sentenced for felony exploitation of a vulnerable person, Demetria Hooper Donelson, 45, plead guilty before a judge.

Donelson went before Lee County Circuit Court Judge James L. Roberts, Jr. She entered an open plea for felony exploitation of a vulnerable person. This plea means she does not accept the states recommendation and puts herself at the mercy of the court.

Donelson received 10 years at the Mississippi Department of Corrections, that sentence was suspended. She will also be required to pay $38,797 to the victim in restitution. There will also be a $250 fine to Crime Victim’s Compensation Fund.

Donelson owned and operated Hannahome Personal Care Hospital in Tupelo. She gained access to the individuals personal accounts and stole the money for her own use.
