KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–Erica Holifield wasn’t involved with the police chase that happened Saturday in Kosciusko in any way. She died when the car they were chasing T-boned her mom’s Camaro at the intersection of Highways 12 and 35, and the guy they were chasing is sitting in the Attala County lock-up.

The wreck happened after Nicholas Jackson of Sallis refused to stop for KPD safety checkpoint on Hwy. 12 about 3:30 Saturday afternoon. When cops started chasing him, things amped up and he reached a high speed and met the Camaro with his Impala, crashing as the Camaro tried to make a left turn onto 12 from Hwy. 35 at a three-way stop, according to Breezynews.com.

The driver, 33-year-old Chassie Holifield, a 10-year-old boy, and the 16-year-old girl who died were all thrown out. There was a three-month old baby in a car seat who was not hurt.

The mom and 10-year-old were airlifted to UMMC, possibly with life-threatening injuries.

The Highway Patrol is investigating and were expected to reconstruct the wreck.
