UPDATE: Police Officer Shot in Corinth, U.S. Marshals and MBI Assist in Search

CORINTH, Miss.–A Corinth police officer was shot about 4:30 Wednesday morning while responding to a prowler call, say police there. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Marshals were assisting in the search for the shooter, reported FOX13 in Memphis.

The officer, Kevin Parker, Jr., was stable, reported WTVA.

The officer apparently was shot with his own gun when the two struggled. Chief Ralph Dance tells WTVA Parker’s bullet-proof vest may have saved his life.

The man they are looking for is black, 5 ft. 9, 250 lbs.
