Possible Date Rape at USM Frat House

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – A University of Southern Mississippi student says she was raped inside a campus frat house by a man she can identify, because she knows him.

Investigators say criminal charges could soon be filed once they find and talk to all witnesses. The delay is caused in part by police having to work around some of the student’s class schedules.  They say the alleged rape happened October 13 in the house of Kappa Sigma fraternity, but the woman did not report it until several days later.

Kappa Sigma had been banned from campus following a hazing incident in 2008.  The chapter was returned to USM’s campus in 2011.
