Prominent Political Voices Behind McDaniel; While Cochran Campaign Point to In-State Support

ELLISVILLE, Miss. — Former U-S vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be in Jones County Friday morning at a campaign rally for Chris McDaniel.

The republican state senator is challenging longtime Senator Thad Cochran for his seat in the US Senate.

Palin and former presidential contender Rick Santorum have both appeared in separate ads to help build momentum for McDaniel.  And McDaniel said in an email to supporters Thursday that “The momentum is with us.”

Friday’s rally will begin at 11 a.m. at the Fine Arts Center at Jones County Junior College.  But doors will open an hour early.

Shortly after Friday’s announcement about Palin’s appearance in Mississippi by the McDaniel Campaign, Cochran’s re-election team tweeted out that “no prominent Mississippian has endorsed Chris McDaniel.”

Governor Phil Bryant, former Governor Haley Barbour, U-S Senator Roger Wicker, former U-S Senator Trent Lott, and Congressmen Gregg Harper and Steven Palazzo are among Cochran’s allies hoping to help the now 76-year-old win a 7th term.  Primary elections are June 3
