Same Sex Ruling Silences Marriage Vows in Mississippi Justice Courts

YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. – The religious beliefs of two Yazoo County Justice Court judges are so strong that they will no longer preform weddings.

Justices Pam May and Bennie Warrington told the Board of Supervisors of their decisions earlier this week. Both cited state law which says they may (shall not) perform weddings.  A worker in the chancery clerk’s office said the judges, who are both Christians, are eliminating matrimonial services as a result of the US Supreme Court’s ruling that legalized same sex marriage.
