Severe weather expected to arrive on Thursday

Mississippi has already seen its fair share of severe weather in recent months, and more may be on the way.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy rains are expected to begin on Thursday and could last through the weekend. A large portion of the state will be affected, so make sure you’re staying weather aware as the storms make their way to Mississippi.

North Mississippi may see storms tonight leading into Thursday, and large hail, damaging winds and flash flooding will be possible.

Over the course of the weekend, some areas in the region could see as much as 6 inches of rain.

In Central and South Mississippi, the NWS is warning of similar conditions on Thursday, and that heavy rains over the weekend could aggravate the flooding that remains from February’s storms.
