Shooter in Vicksburg High School Student’s Death Gets 25 Years

VICKSBURG, Miss.- A Vicksburg teenager has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after killing a Vicksburg High School student.

The Vicksburg Post reported that 17-year-old Romaire Brown pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Ke’Marvin Stamps.

Brown was one of seven suspects involved in the crime and is the sixth to plead guilty. The other five, DeMario Mixon, Melvin Wiggins, Tyler Jones, Christopher Jones and Devontae Montgomery are each serving five years in prison for accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.

District Attorney Ricky Smith said the case against Marquis Black is pending.

Police said 17-year-old KeMarvin Stamps, was shot in the head and killed March 15, 2013 while he was walking on the street with another teen. All seven teens accused in the killing of Stamps were riding in the same Dodge truck where the gunshot came from.
