South Mississippi Runway Cleared for Use after Landing Gear Failure

GULFPORT, Miss. – A single-engine airplane forced the shutdown of the Gulfport-Biloxi Airport Wednesday after its landing gear collapsed.

A spokesperson for the airport said only the pilot was in the Cessna 172 and no one was hurt.   It took maintenance crews about an hour to clear the runway, which delayed the take off of only one Delta flight.
