Special Mayoral Election Ordered in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — A Special election has been ordered to determine the mayor of Hattiesburg. That decided Thursday afternoon by Judge William Coleman.

Candidate Dave Ware and incumbent Johnny DuPree had been in a legal battle after Dupree had won June’s election by 37 votes. Ware claimed there were voting irregularities but the trail ended in a hung jury.

The city now waits for that election date to be set by Governor Phil Bryant.
