Starkville High Closed, City Picking Up After Storms Monday

STARKVILLE, Miss– Starkville High is closed today after a massive weather front made its way through the state, causing power outages and downed trees in the city.

High wind gusts, heavy rain, and the possibility of tornadoes sent school kids home early yesterday. Today, the high school is closed. Starkville School District announced on Facebook and Twitter Tuesday “UPDATED INFO: Starkville High School is CLOSED today. Students and teachers do not report. Crews are continuing to work to clear lines & restore power.”

Winds gusts reached 80 miles an hour in Starkville, bringing down trees and power lines, says WTVA. Starkville Mayor Parker Wiseman said no injuries were reported to him.
