State Looking to Hire 50 Prison Guards in March

LEAKESVILLE, Miss.- The Mississippi Department of Corrections is looking to hire 50 new prison guards for the prison in Leakesville.

Correctional Officer Trainees are responsible for the supervision, care, custody, and control of inmates in a correctional institution or facility.

Interviews will be held Saturday, March 7, at the South Mississippi Correctional Institution starting at 8:30 a.m. Starting pay is $1,833.80 per month.

An applicant must be at least 18 years old, provide proof of a high school diploma or G.E.D., have a valid driver’s license and Social Security card and have no felony or domestic violence conviction. Applicants also must complete a math quiz, a written report, a physical agility exercise and a drug test.
