State Sen. Carmichael Will Run Again Despite Injury

MERIDIAN, Miss.–State Sen. Videt Carmichael (R-Meridian) said this week that he will run for office again, despite an injury he got earlier this year when fell during the legislative session.

He fell and hit his head in his Jackson apartment and was in the hospital for three weeks. At one point it didn’t look too good. But, Carmichael recovered. He told WTOK in Meridian this week that he’s up for another term.

He said when he passed out, it was due to low blood pressure from a bleeding ulcer.

“The Lord listened and he made me, I won’t say whole, but I’m well. I can do anything I want to do, basically, so I’m blessed,” Carmichael told the TV station. “My health is fine. And I’m enjoying life even more every day.”

He said his 2015 run will likely be his last.
