A suspect is behind bars after a standoff on a Coast highway.

On Wednesday morning, officers were engaged in a standoff with 33-year-old Michael Mack, of Baton Rouge, who was armed with a machete inside of his 18-wheeler on I-10 in Gautier.

Police and SWAT teams surrounded Mack, and after several hours, they were able to use tear to get him out of the truck and into custody. He was changed charged with felony pursuit by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

At this time, no motive for the standoff has been released.

Mack was driving recklessly in Alabama before he was pulled over in Mississippi, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department stated that the Alabama and Mississippi Highway Patrols, along with Mobile County Sheriff’s Department, may file additional charges against him.
