Traffic Stop Leads to Cold and Wet Rescue

COLUMBUS, Miss. – A man trying to escape Columbus police was rushed to the hospital after officers said he jumped into a lake and nearly drowned.

The man, whose name was not released, had been pulled over during a traffic stop. Before he could be arrested for driving with a suspended license, the man took off on foot and made a running jump into a nearby lake.
Officers had to pulled him out and performed CPR after he was underwater for too long. He was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital- Golden Triangle.  So far, no charges have been filed.
