An investigation is underway after a Forrest County Deputy was involved in a fatal crash in Hattiesburg.
While the cause of the crash has not been determined, the Hattiesburg PD stated that it occurred on HWY 49 near Edwards Street on Saturday around 6 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, two individuals were pronounced dead while the deputy was treated for minor injuries.
The victims have now reportedly been identified as 66-year-old Charlie Epting Sr. and 80-year-old Annie Everett.
At this time it is unclear who was at fault in the crash, and the officer involved in the crash has been placed on leave while the investigation continues.
